Programme Introduction

Participants in the 2009 Nanjing University Study Programme

Sponsored by the Chinese government, the U.N. Chinese Language Programme is offering, for the 7th year in a row, a three-week summer study programme at Nanjing University in 2010. All students who are enrolled in a Chinese class at UNHQ and OAHQs and have completed at least Level 2  are eligible to apply. Tuition and housing are covered by the Chinese government and the international travel is your own responsibility. Upon the approval of your supervisor, staff members in the Secretariat will receive Special Leave With Pay. For detailed description of eligibility requirements and application procedures, please see the application form below.

This short-term program is the ideal opportunity for students who want to learn and improve their Chinese language skills, explore China, and experience Chinese culture firsthand. Studying Chinese language and culture in China offers a unique experience. You will gain valuable insight about the Chinese people and culture by exploring the country and interacting with local Chinese students and scholars—an experience and knowledge that is possible only in China.

The programme dates are Monday, 12 July to Friday, 30 July, 2010. Classes are held Monday to Friday with a total of 4 hours per day and 20 hours per week. Courses include conversation and reading classes.

Nanjing University will organize three free city tours and our programme will organize optional out-of-town tours on the weekends.

The deadline for application is 31 March, 2010. If you are interested in applying, please fill out the application form and email Yong Ho, Coordinator of the Study Programme at ho@un.org.
