Travel Arrangement

For people in New York, if you have your own travel agency, feel free to use it, but if you don't or if your travel agency does not offer you a competitive fare, please contact Trans-Pacific Express Travel in New York City at 212-685-1401, which handled tickets for many of our participants in the previous years. Please identify yourself as a UN staff member and ask to speak to Mr. William Gao. We have asked his agency to block a few seats in mid-July.

The Chinese Ministry of Education is inviting us and our host at Nanjing University to have our opening ceremony held in Beijing on Monday, 11 July. The suggested itinerary for us is that we all arrive in Beijing on the weekend of the 9th or the 10th July. Our accommodations will be covered. We'll tour the headquarters of the Confucius Institutes and hold our opening ceremony. Following the lunch, we'll depart for Nanjing in the afternoon. Our programme will set up a tour of the Great Wall and the Ming Tombs on Sunday, the 10th. People are certainly free to explore the city on their own. At the end of our programme in Nanjing, people can depart for home either from Shanghai, which is closer to Nanjing, or Beijing.

The transportation from Beijing to Nanjing is on our own.
