Learning Chinese through Multimedia

This course is designed to teach Chinese language and introduce Chinese culture, poems, movies, music, painting, and operas through various media such as Internet, TV, radio, newspaper, and magazine. Students will learn Chinese computer input and word processing, web surfing through Chinese search engines, and read and compose Chinese emails. They will also learn to appreciate Chinese music, operas, poems, painting, and cross-talk comedies. Live class discussions on current events after watching TV news and listening to radio news are also included. Students will use media lab’s equipment to record and practice speaking Chinese. All these activities will lead to the students a much enriched environment to learn Chinese and understand Chinese culture.

Duration. 1 hour per week for 12 weeks. Class meets on Friday from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm

Prerequisite: completion of Level 5.
